About The Artist

Anna Strang

Thank you for being here. Here's a little about me!

I live in Central Montana with my husband, Scott, our two young children, Sadie and Cooper, and our dogs, Avy and Diesel.

Finding Montana

After college, in 2018, Scott and I were living in our first apartment together in a suburb of Boston. We were happy but we both envisioned a different lifestyle for ourselves. When the time was right, we picked up and moved west to Colorado.

In 2020, we got our first dog, a lab, who we (mostly Scott) trained to be a bird dog. We quickly fell in love with upland hunting, and spent many of our weekends driving out to Eastern Colorado for hunting and training.

In 2022, our newfound hobby led us to visit Central Montana for a month of upland hunting. During that month we fell in love with Central Montana- with the landscape, the lifestyle, and the people.

In 2024, we made Central Montana home, and I feel like it's the place I am meant to be.

Finding Painting

I've always had an interest in art, but had never leaned into it. Shortly before our move to Montana, I decided to try painting for the first time in my adult life.

I believe that what kept me coming back to painting in the beginning was the goal of capturing the feeling of Montana in my work, and that continues to be a goal of mine.

Living where I do and painting both bring me a similar sense of freedom, inspiration, and joy.

Maybe that's why I can't stop painting the landscape- I'm on a mission to bottle up that feeling of lightness, peace, and the desire to frolic through the fields!

I hope my work brings you a little piece of that feeling.
